ArBuckle's Tattoo & Piercing Emporium

The Greg Q. ArBuckle Philosophy

On a cold rainy night with 50¢ in his pocket, I was conceived in a 'Bordello' during the Truman Administration, I ran away from a children home and joined the circus at 14. I went into a five year apprenticeship to learn the correct way to tattoo. At 19, I joined the tattoo guild, and have been a member ever since.

I'm a Master Tattoo Artist, have been tattooing for over 34 years. I'm located in Czech Village a tourist area in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I remodeled the building I am in, to suit my needs. I led the State of Iowa in writing Health Codes for Tattooing.

ArBuckle’s Tattoo & Piercing Emporium Inc. has been State Inspected & Licensed since July 1, 1989, when the laws went into effect in Iowa (I helped write these laws).

In my shop, all equipment, including needle bars, tubes, pigment receptacles, piercing needles, body jewelry, is kept in a dust proof glass case or cleanable and autoclavable covered container when not in use.

All piercing needles, body jewelry, needle bars, tubes, operating instruments and other equipment or materials which may come in direct or indirect contact with the tattooing process is sterilized in a steam pressure autoclave for 30 minutes at of 250ƒF (121ƒC) and at a minimum of fifteen (15) pounds of chamber pressure before use. My sterilizers are monitored monthly by the University of Iowa Dental College (this is the same as most Doctors and Dentist do in Iowa).

Everything is single service use; latex exam gloves, gauze sponges, needle bars, pigment, and all receptacles. The needles are snipped off into a sharps container; latex exam gloves, gauze sponges, pigment, and all receptacles are then disposed of in front of the customer.

Pigments used in tattooing are sterile and free from noxious agents and substances. The pigments used from stock for each customer are placed in a single service receptacle.

All bandages and surgical dressings used in connection with the tattooing of any person are sterile and stored in a clean and sanitary manner.

An aseptic technique is used on the skin area to be tattooed and is thoroughly cleaned with a germicidal soap and water, rinsed thoroughly, and sterilized with an antiseptic solution. After tattooing, an antiseptic ointment and a sterile dressing are applied to the tattooed area. verbal and written instructions on the care of your tattoo is given.

All of the instruments, equipment, and facilities are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.

Photo ID is checked at the door, no one under 18 is allowed (Iowa State Law 1989). Intoxicated persons (alcohol/drugs) are denied the services of my shop. No alcohol/drugs are allowed in or consumed.
